Nothing new here.

Posted : 1 week, 6 days ago on 23 September 2008 08:05 (A review of Fringe)

"Fringe" is your everyday average crime show, created by the director of Mission Impossible 3 "J.J Abrams". Knowing how good MI 3 was, I thought this show was going to be much better. It is very basic, with the exception of the way it is portrayed. You have your female character named Olivia Dunham, followed by your male character named John Scott. They are in a secret relationship while working in the same department. While I was watching it, I noticed all of the basic crime show cliches. Maybe if there weren't so many, I would have thought higher of this show.

I thought is was just average until I saw this unique feature. As they show different places around the world, it expands on the screen in big blue text. I have never seen anything like it. It really makes the show a little more enjoyable.

The show is about a plague, or a chemical that is released into the world, that deforms people, making them look very weird, and kind of like a zombie.

If you are looking for a pretty enjoyable show, but nothing new, give this one a try.

Are they serious?

Posted : 1 week, 6 days ago on 23 September 2008 07:26 (A review of Bangkok Dangerous)

"Are they serious?" was basically what was going through my head while watching this film. months before it's release, I was extremely excited about viewing it. I swear I had no idea it would be as bad as it was. I mean, when most people hear about Nicolas Cage as a hitman, they expect good things. Especially when I have never seen a bad Nicolas Cage film, though I have never had the pleasure of seeing "Ghost Rider", or "The Wicker Man", which I have heard are pretty bad. Anyway, the film is nowhere near as good as advertised.

Honestly the main flaw in this film was the plot. It was actually boring after awhile. It was good for the first twenty minutes or so, then very dull from there. There were way too many scenes about him and his Asian lover, and I frankly think they should have cut a lot of her scenes out of the film. I wouldn't have minded if they met, had a date, and moved on. Speaking of flaws, I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but a lot of the scenes were completely silent, which was quite annoying after awhile.

Maybe I am being too harsh, but that is the way I feel.

One of my favorite comedy films of all-time

Posted : 2 weeks ago on 23 September 2008 12:18 (A review of Rat Race)

I simply love this film. The whole idea of it is great, and the cast pulls it off perfectly, including Seth Green, Cuba Gooding Jr.,Whoopi Goldberg, and a few more. No flaws are coming to mind. But please do note that this is not one of those masterpiece films, that will win a bunch of awards and be a classic, Don't hope for any of that. This is just a film for the whole family, or by yourself to sit back, laugh, and have a great time. This is one of the best films for that purpose.

The plot is about a big group of strangers, (with the exception of some friends) that are offered to go on a race to acquire a large sum of money. The person that is offering this big prize, is a guy that works at a casino. He is looking for a way to make income, so he sends these people on a rat race. They all accept, and racing they go! the obstacles they go through, and hilarious schemes they are forced into, makes this one of my all-time favorite films.

I really am beginning to lose confidence in Avnet

Posted : 2 weeks, 1 day ago on 21 September 2008 11:00 (A review of 88 Minutes)

You would think that Jon Avnet would be able to pull off a good film, considering the fact that this is his second mediocre film, the other being Righteous Kill, but I am sorry to say, I was disappointed once again.

I admit, I was into this film for the first thirty minutes or so, but the plot kept going on and on, and wouldn't stop. The actual killer, and the twist were way too drawn out to the point where I just started to get bored. It would have been much better if they cut the film shorter by a good twenty minutes, and didn't have so many possible suspects. I almost got a headache from that alone.

The acting from Pacino was great as usual. I don't know of any films where he has been bad. What really bugged me though, was the acting from the supporting cast members. I was thinking to myself, is this a joke?.

Well, that basically sums up by short review of 88 Minutes. Watch it at your own risk.

A Huge Disappointment.

Posted : 2 weeks, 3 days ago on 20 September 2008 01:13 (A review of Righteous Kill)

I can not even begin describing how excited I was for this film's release. I was waiting for it for months and months. I was expecting a classic De Niro/Pacino Blockbuster Gem, but it was anything but that. Yes, there were several entertaining to watch scenes, and the acting from both legends was great, with some great original lines, but that does not do this film justice. It was very predictable, and pretty much like most other cop thrillers out there, except this one had many more flaws mixed in throughout. I know I am cutting this review short, and the reason for that is because I am a little rusty seeing as in I have not written a review in weeks, and frankly there is not much more to say about this film.

Pros: acting, a couple classic lines, great duo.

Cons: bad story, predictable, cheesy

Super Size Me.

Posted : 1 month, 1 week ago on 30 August 2008 01:16 (A review of Super Size Me)

Disgusting? maybe, but "Super Size Me" really taught me a lot. I used to think Mcdonalds was alright for your system, and that you could easily consume it every day of your natural born life. Well, I was proven majorly wrong. What this film shows is graphic yet 100% factual.

A guy named Morgan Spurlock (30 days) conducts a month long experiment by eating Mcdonalds every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He must have every item on the menu at least once before the time period is up. At first it looks delicious to eat that much, but after awhile it gets intense and gruesome to view. You see him gain about twenty pounds, and get very ill. The doctor tells him if he doesn't stop consuming this much fast food, he could die. I think by that time he only had a couple of days left to eat.

He is fine healthy awhile after the thirty days is up, but he knows better than to do it again. My final question to him his, why do it? to prove something? I really don't know.

A Great Thriller From Start To Finish.

Posted : 1 month, 1 week ago on 26 August 2008 11:08 (A review of Deja Vu)

With all of the excellent films that Denzel Washington has starred in over the past ten years or so, including American Gangster, Training Day, Man On Fire, Inside Man, etc., this picture definitely proves it has what it takes to meet those expectations. With over the top action, a great story, a great cast, and pretty neat looking high tech gadgets to go back in time, this is by far one of the best films of 2006.

The story is about a man named Keith Frazier (Washington) who works for the ATF, which the meaning of is away from me at the moment. He realizes he can go back into time in order to save a woman from being murdered. The way she is killed before going back in time I believe is a boat explosion, though it has been quite awhile since I viewed this film. Anyway, he goes back into time and begins unraveling all sorts of clues in order to figure out how to save her, while in the process falling in love with her. That is the plot in a nutshell.

In my opinion, the two falling in love was a great addition to the already excellent story. It made the film that much more enjoyable and edge of your seat exciting. I can honestly not think of any flaws in this film.

Bottomline, see this film if you haven't. You will be very happy that you did.

A Great Thrill Ride.

Posted : 1 month, 1 week ago on 24 August 2008 05:22 (A review of Death Race)

The Year is 2012.

"Death Race" is a very good film. I was actually surprised how good it actually was. There was tons of action, including great fight scenes from Jason Statham, and some great car racing. The cars in this film were different looking then most, but they looked quite bad-ass. They had high tech weapons attached to them. The material in the film was excellent. If you are into basically mindless action films with a pretty good story, a little bit like Doomsday, then watch this film.

In the beginning of the film, I was wondering if it was going to get any better, because it seemed dull. The story was corny and honestly weird. The way Jensen (Statham) got put into prison seemed unrealistic and unbelievable at first, then the film started making a lot more sense.

I would say this is one of the most entertaining films of 2008.

Funny, Corny.

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 21 August 2008 10:06 (A review of Semi-Pro)

"Semi-Pro" is nothing like Will Ferrell's other films. It is not nearly as good as "Elf", or "Stranger Than Fiction". The reason I say that is because it was very corny and unfunny at many moments. Will Ferrel's performance was not nearly as good as it could have been. It felt like the director tried a bit to hard to be funny. Other than that, the film was very good.

The story revolves around a semi-pro basketball team. They are one of the worst in the league but are still trying to get into the NBA. The team is ran by the main player "Jackie Moon" (Will Ferrell). His motives are not what you would say top notch, so They hire a new guy and try several other things to become NBA Material. It eventually works after going through hilarious processes.

The film's plot is a very basic concept with some flaws here and there. I would say it is worth watching for the most part.

Fun With Friends.

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 20 August 2008 03:59 (A review of Fuzion Frenzy)

"Fuzion Frenzy" is a great game if you have a lot of friends over, or even family for that matter. It is a great party game featuring I think thirty or forty mini games to enjoy. It is in a way similar to Mario Party, but in my opinion a little better.

I only played the demo, and that disappoints me, because having the full Game would be a joy. This is one of those games that can go on forever without having even a pinch of boredom.

For those of you who haven't played this game, please do. You will be pleasantly surprised.
