Funny, Corny.

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 21 August 2008 10:06 (A review of Semi-Pro)

"Semi-Pro" is nothing like Will Ferrell's other films. It is not nearly as good as "Elf", or "Stranger Than Fiction". The reason I say that is because it was very corny and unfunny at many moments. Will Ferrel's performance was not nearly as good as it could have been. It felt like the director tried a bit to hard to be funny. Other than that, the film was very good.

The story revolves around a semi-pro basketball team. They are one of the worst in the league but are still trying to get into the NBA. The team is ran by the main player "Jackie Moon" (Will Ferrell). His motives are not what you would say top notch, so They hire a new guy and try several other things to become NBA Material. It eventually works after going through hilarious processes.

The film's plot is a very basic concept with some flaws here and there. I would say it is worth watching for the most part.

Wanted Much More.

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago on 17 August 2008 06:15 (A review of Mr. Woodcock)

This film was good for the most part. It had several pretty funny scenes and the cast was great as well. I highly enjoy Billy Bob Thornton and Sean William Scott. In my opinion, it was just a bit rushed with a lot of rather ridiculous dialogue including some out of place lines. Not to mention, it was a little cheesy.

I really do not have much more to say about this film, so I will just say it is mostly worth seeing.

One Of The Funniest Films Of The Year.

Posted : 2 months, 1 week ago on 27 July 2008 04:09 (A review of Step Brothers)

"Step Brothers" is easily a contender for comedy of the year. It was hysterical.

The film revolves around two step brothers who basically hate each others guts. They are played by two of the funniest actors in Hollywood. Will Ferrell, and John C. Reilly. That was a big bonus for me considering all of Ferrell's films are hilarious. I haven't seen many of Reilly's, but he put on a show in this film. They are forty year old men still living with their parents, which in my opinion, couldn't be a better plot for these two. Will Ferrell had that spark to him, as he does in all of his other great films. Watch for a little resemblance to his Elf character "Buddy". You will laugh hysterically during this film, I guarantee it. perfect actors, along with a spectacular, but very basic plot, make this a must see film.

At first I was rather skeptical due to a few unnecessary jokes and scenes that were added in towards the beginning of the film, but that quickly changed when it lit up with golden comedy. I have not laughed that much about a film in who knows how long. There are so many unforgettable scenes in this film, it is just great. Will Ferrell has some of his best quotes.

I was pleasantly surprised by The supporting cast. They were all excellent, including Mary Steenburgen, Richard Jenkins, and a special guest Seth Rogen. This film had all the ingredients of a great film, and it is. Go see this film!

Quite Scary.

Posted : 2 months, 3 weeks ago on 16 July 2008 05:36 (A review of Alien)

"Alien" is a rather scary film. It has it's own kind of fear to it. A fear that can only be found while watching this specific film. You don't see this kind of a movie anywhere anymore. Th reason I find it scary, is because you don't actually see the alien until almost the end of the film. The build up of how scary you think the alien will be, is almost as frightening as seeing it. I was really frightened when I first saw the full grown version pop up in one of the scenes. H.R. Giger, the designer of the alien, really made it look real, and truly scary.

If you want to know the honest truth, I was expecting it to be much better for some reason. I am not saying I didn't enjoy it, because I did. I am just saying it could have been better. I was not entertained the whole way through. I thought they could have showed the alien a little more, and added some more action to certain scenes. But other than that, it was a very good film, and probably Ridley Scott's best.

The Hitcher Movie Review.

Posted : 2 months, 3 weeks ago on 14 July 2008 11:04 (A review of The Hitcher)

This is a pretty entertaining film. It has a few very suspenseful scenes that I highly enjoyed. The plot was basic though, which I thought was disappointing. I felt that maybe the story could have expanded and been a lot more in depth. The film would have been great if those aspects were not involved. I am not saying that basic stories and plots in films are bad, I am just saying that it wasn't pulled off very well here. But to be positive, it was one of the most entertaining horror films out there. Just don't except Award winning material. Enjoy the film.

A Very Entertaining Flick.

Posted : 2 months, 3 weeks ago on 14 July 2008 08:32 (A review of Street Kings)

"Street Kings" is a highly entertaining film. Keanu Reeves was not great, but he did perform well. The rest of the cast was really good. The best performances was by Forest Whitaker and Hugh Laurie. They were both excellent. The rest of the supporting cast was good, but very out of place. There were just too many big stars mixed in at random scenes of the film. It kind of seemed like the film could easily have had several less characters. Other than that, the cast was great.

The story was about a cop named Tom Ludlow (Reeves) who is going through a rough patch in his life after his wife died. He drinks a lot, and often gets angry. He is an ordinary police officer until he is framed for murdering two other deputies. From there on out the film is chaotic and extremely pulse pounding. The film gets over the top entertaining. Prior to that, his ex-partner Terrence Washington is killed. Ludlow is also framed for that. So basically his life is going downhill and he sets out on a mission to find the killers. To assist him is deputy Paul Diskant played by Chris Evans. They get several leads from various people around town and are very successful in the investigation. They think they have the crooks until Diskant is killed and Ludlow finds himself in a deadly conspiracy where all of of the Los Angeles Police Department is after him. Ludlow Survives, and is later cleared by Captain James Biggs (Laurie) of any crimes he may or may have not committed.

The film is highly entertaining, and a lot like Training Day or Harsh Times in a way. So if you enjoyed those two films, and are interested in intense action, then this is the film for you.

*May Contain Spoilers*

Average.

Posted : 2 months, 3 weeks ago on 14 July 2008 06:38 (A review of Conspiracy)

I think this film is just average. It is a straight to video film so that was expected. I was hoping for much more though. The story was very basic with an interesting and very unexpected twist. I was actually very into the film until the middle to end of it. The acting was pretty bad but it was not a huge factor. There was one thing that really bugged me though. The fight choreography was absolutely terrible. I was extremely disappointed. Then again, it was straight to dvd. If you do not expect much from this film going in, and do not mind very corny scenes, then you should enjoy this film to a certain extent.

Very Entertaining Mostly.

Posted : 2 months, 3 weeks ago on 12 July 2008 11:41 (A review of Journey to the Center of the Earth)

Journey To The Center Of The Earth" is a very good film for the most part.

Brendan Fraser stars a a scientist named Trevor Anderson. He studies earth sciences at a university and in his spare time. His Brother Max Anderson mysteriously disappeared ten years earlier on a trip. Nobody knows why or where. Trevor desperately wants to know, so he sets out on a trip to the center of the earth with his nephew Sean. Prior to that they take a plane to a foreign country. They get lost and go to the nearest house. There, they meet a woman named Hannah. She is the daughter of the late Sigurbjorn Asgeirsson; a great scientist who was studying the same concept as Trevor. She ends up charging them 5,000 dollars an hour to lead the way the center of the earth. The three go on a tremendous journey with several obstacles.

You would think that plot would be all entertainment with no flaws or dull moments. Which is true, except for a couple of scenes that throw the film off quite a bit. Brendan Fraser does great, but could have been a little better. As for the the rest of the cast, They were great.

The story was very well made. It had almost nothing wrong with it. I was hooked from beginning to end, and there were several unforgettable aspects. It was very adventurous. I thought I was there at some points it was so in depth and fun to watch. The visuals were also stunning.

I think this is the perfect family film, with no thinking required, and just enjoyment. If you are looking for a great Oscar winning film, you will obviously not find it here, but if you want a fun to watch film, then this is the film to watch.

Plot Holes, And Quite Cheesy, But Entertaining.

Posted : 2 months, 4 weeks ago on 9 July 2008 10:36 (A review of Mindhunters)

"Mindhunters" tells the story of several FBI Agents that go on a training mission on a deserted island to see if they have what it takes. At first, the mission is normal. With practice objectives, and obstacles. There is only one thing. Are these small objectives and occurences actually just training? the answer is no, they are not. This film is filled with so many twists and turns it boggled my mind. First I thought these weird happenings were part of the training process, then I thought differently. I just kept changing my mind, and the film was really making me think. At first it was confusing, but when I got further through the film it got highly entertaining to watch, and I was really enjoying it. After all of that, the group members begin getting killed one by one in vastly different ways. The group realizes the killer is one of their own and things start going crazy and very thrilling. The film is great up to the final fifteen minutes or so where there was just one twist too many, and I just wanted the film to get to the main point. The film had some corny scenes, and the fight choreography was horrible. Good thing there was only one fight. Other than that I highly enjoyed this film and recommend it very much.

You don't mess with the Zohan. Are do you?

Posted : 3 months ago on 8 July 2008 05:23 (A review of You Don't Mess with the Zohan)

Adam Sandler most recent film is about a counter terrorist agent who moves to America to become a hairstylist. Meanwhile, there are several people after him trying to kill him.

The story was sub-par with some great in depth moments. It w There were several flaws however. The story was a bit rushed and had some pretty dull moments and plot holes. Other than that, it was good.

Adam Sandler has always been known for acting as bizarre yet hilarious characters in is films throughout his career. He has been successful in most of them and most are real crowd pleasers. He has really made his mark in the film industry. If you are looking for one of those films. In other words one of his classic comedy films, then I am sorry to say, you will not find it in Zohan. This film is more of a spoof film than any others. Sandler has his hilarious moments and he does do quite well. Although after watching this film you will not feel that classic Sandler spark. It is more of a film for pure entertainment, not winning an oscar type.

Well now the final verdict. Is Zohan really a film worth spending 1 hour and 45 minutes on? or is it pure garbage?. Well, I say it is highly entertaining with some great and hilarious action scenes. Very good story. Pretty good acting. And one more thing. I was never bored while watching it. Those are the positives. Now, here are the negatives. Throughout the film you will most likely not be laughing at certain scenes. The reason I say that, is because there are so many horribly laid out jokes that just fail on every level. And they have bad timing as well. Some of them are also just too old to use these days. There is only one more negative aspect. The film is rather corny. Some of the lines could be drastically improved and the acting can at a lot of times be cheesy. I think Zohan is worth the watch.
