Rob Zombie's Masterpiece.

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 17 June 2008 10:57 (A review of The Devil's Rejects)

Only Rob Zombie could pull something off this grotesque and make it look like a work of art. Though many directors have made similar features in their careers, none of them exactly match the brutality Zombie brings to the table. With only just four films under his belt, heā€™s becoming quite a well-known ā€œnoobieā€ to the business, and is in for a great future as long as he continues dishing out blood-splattering scene after scene for all the horror fanatics out there. I, myself happen to enjoy those once in awhile, considering them loads of fun as long as theyā€™re pulled off well. Not all appeal to Zombieā€™s body of work, most will probably complain about the heavy amounts of violence within, or maybe the disrespect he portrays through plenty of his scenes, including exploiting many moral ethics. Thrills over substance, thatā€™s Rob Zombieā€™s way.

Set in Ruggsville, Texas after the events that took place in ā€œHouse of 1000 Corpsesā€, where a group of college friends looking for a good time, happen to slip right into the grasp of The Firefly Family, and are brutally murdered, The Devilā€™s Rejects is part 2 of the sadistic familiesā€™ journey as they relocate to Texas, attempting to continue their crime spree. No one really figures out what makes these guys tick, what drives them into insanity driven rampages, but itā€™s the fact that they do it. That makes it worth watching, albeit having no real motive to run on. I believe some critics may point out that small flaw, but it doesnā€™t even put a dent in the film, because it works as an affective guilty pleasure, and no real reason is necessary. It may just be that they are purely insane individuals. Either way, itā€™s a blast to watch. The three killers are woken up mid-day with their pants down when Sheriff Wydell (William Forsythe) and his police unit receive a tip of the familiesā€™ whereabouts. Forsytheā€™s character is nothing short of superb. His relentless, volatile personality is dead-on, and quite terrifying. He is equally, if not more crazy than the firefly family, and wonā€™t stop hunting down his target until blood is shed, and they are brought to justice. He also happens to be after them for revenge, as they killed his brother some years ago, torturing him to a bloody pulp.

Zombie likes sticking to particular actors, most of which have starred in all of his pictures. Sid Haig, Bill Mosely and Sherri Moon Zombie all return to their previous roles. Moon is the sister to Billā€™s character, and the daughter of Sid Haigā€™s. All are equally sadistic individuals, and take pleasure in what they do. The previous installment, ā€œ1000 Corpsesā€ is good stuff, paying homage to the old-school horror days, with many corny-looking elements including your by-the-books road trip mishap, and some pretty old-school tunes to boot. It worked very well and knew what it wanted to be. However, that was just a starting point, as the ā€œSequelā€ tops its predecessor with flying colors. As the first scene at the farmhouse begins, you just know your in for a wild ride. Wydell says his prayers, him and his team start firing, and the Firefly family are armed and ready for what turns out to be one of the most epic shootouts in cinema history. Thatā€™s where the fun starts, and escalates further downhill for both the protagonists and antagonists. The duration of the film is split pretty evenly between all parties, including a small role for Danny Trejo as a bounty hunter hired to track down the sadistic killers. Heā€™s partnered with an equally bad-ass counterpart, and the side-story about them and how they go about their business is very well done, and a delight to watch. It starts getting really intense from there on out. Trejo has also appeared in Zombiesā€™ other project Halloween, playing a guard at the mental institution thatā€™s holding Myers. Also appearing for a short while is Geoffery Lewis, playing a musician that becomes held captive after the Fireflies bombard the bandā€™s hotel room. All the acting is great here, especially considering the type of film it is, and Geoffery Lewis is no exception, albeit playing a small role. Each and every character plays an important role, and all pitch in, really gelling the movie together

With Rob Zombie, you should know the R-rated, graphic and sadistic material youā€™ll be presented with. so the viewers who enjoy this director will most definitely enjoy this, as itā€™s easily his best project thus far. Anyone who complains about all of the above, gore, rape, murder, kidnapping, etc. really should not have sat down to view a Rob Zombie film in the first place. Considering the genre and what the elements portrayed are aiming for, The Devilā€™s Rejects actually ranks above most horrorā€™s in the intelligence department. There are no mundane clichĆ©s, by-the-book killings, or cheesy scenarios. This is an authentic, bad-ass, balls-to-the-wall horror film, and itā€™s a true piece of art. Iā€™m also a huge fan of the soundtrack, as Free Bird plays during a perfectly appropriate scene, and many other classics are heard throughout, molding this into somewhat of an old-school film, but new-school in the way all the grotesque stuff is handled, not too over-the-top for the most part, and very well crafted.

This is one of the BEST horror films ever invented, and probably the best of the 2000ā€™s.

9.6/10

Stealth Action Redefined.

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 15 June 2008 09:42 (A review of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent)

A spectacular game, not as good as the others, but I still love it. The story is not quite as entertaining, but it does the job for me. "Splinter Cell" is easily the best video game franchise ever made, and my all-time favorite.

Very Fun To Watch.

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 15 June 2008 08:03 (A review of Flatliners)

"Flatliners", was a very fun film to watch. There was a lot of suspenseful scenes, and the acting was great. I really enjoyed the plot, and story a lot. The story revolved around five medical students, who test an experiment, to see if their is life beyond death. Four of the students do it, and afterwards, they begin to visions of what they most regret. Some visions are more violent than others. If you are looking for a great suspenseful, and entertaining film, than this is for you.

Wierd, But Oddly Entertaining.*

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 15 June 2008 02:55 (A review of The Happening)

I thought "The Happening", would be much better, and a lot different than it was. I was expecting a really good horror film. The result was a weird, and very interesting, goofy film. I am not going to lie, I was laughing a lot more than I was getting scared, in fact, The film was not spooky, or scary at all, with the exception of a couple scary scenes. it was actually hilarious, and you could probably consider it a comedy film. I am not saying the film is bad, or not worth seeing, because it isn't, it just isn't a film that you can take seriously. There are mostly serious scenes, but they are just not pulled off very well, considering the acting was mostly bad, and cheesy. The story gets very entertaining as the film progresses. Overall, I thought this film was ridiculous, funny, and oddly very entertaining.

A Pretty Fun Video Game.

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 12 June 2008 03:05 (A review of Gears of War)

This is game is loved by most gamers. It is one of the most popular video games. To tell you the truth, it is not a great game by any standards. I have gotten to like it a little more than I used to, and now I think it is pretty fun game. the online is pretty fun, but the single player isn't as fun.I think the graphics are great, and the story is good also. I might rent or maybe buy gears of war 2. "Gears Of War" is worth playing.

It Has A Few Flaws, But Still Highly Entertaining!

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 10 June 2008 01:14 (A review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull)

When I first walked into the movie theater, I was excited to see Indy 4. It sounded like an excellent, and fun film to watch. I was very skeptical at the beginning of the film, considering I hadn't seen Harrison Ford as Indy in years. The verdict is, it was awesome to see him, he did great in the fourth installment. He was obviously not as good as we was in the classics, but that was expected. He sure can kick some butt for being sixty-five years old, wow, and he looked fifty. His acting was very good too. He did a great job.

Harrison Ford was accompanied by some excellent actors and actresses. Shia Labeouf was involved this time around, and he did a great job. He played a great character, and look out for some hilarious scenes he has. He goes on the journey with Indy, and learns the ropes. Karen Allen, from a previous Indy film, who was in a relationship with him, returns this time around. She does a great job. Their were two other big names involved this film too, like Ray Winstone, and Cate Blanchete. They both had great roles, and did not disappoint.

Everyone is saying that This film is not very good, or it has bad CGI, or whatever, but I completely disagree with them. I thought Indy 4 was a highly entertaining film, and brought back some memories from the previous classics. Yes, the film does have some weird aspects to it. When I say weird, I mean misplaced, and not something you would expect to see in an Indy film. Those things do not affect the film enough to make it a bad film. I admit, the green screen, was not the greatest, but it was such a small part in Indy 4, that I just ignored it and payed attention to the Great, and entertaining aspects of This film.

Overall, I thought Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, was worth it, and it really brought back some greatness of the other Indiana Jones Films. I recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I will be buying this film, when it is released on DVD, and Blu-ray.

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay review

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 7 June 2008 10:55 (A review of Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay)

"Harold And Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay", is a hilarious film. It is much better than the first film, and funnier than most films this year. When I first began watching this film, I was skeptical on how good it would be, because it seemed cheesy. I just had to give it five or ten minutes, and then I began to love it. John Cho, and Kal Penn, are turning themselves into two of the funniest actors in Hollywood. The plot, is great, and this film was 100% entertaining. I highly recommend this film to anyone into great comedy films, and I will be buying it in the future.

Big Daddy review

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 7 June 2008 10:47 (A review of Big Daddy)

I am a huge Adam Sandler fan. The reason for that, is because of films like these that he stars in. Every one of his films are hilarious in their own way, and they all have that Adam Sandler spark to them. "Big Daddy", does not disappoint. It was a hilarious film, with great scenes, and an awesome plot. Adam Sandler plays the role of Kevin Garrity. He is asked to take custody of a young child named Julian. Throughout the film, they begin to bond, and become great friends. I think this is a great role for Sandler. He had great acting, and was very entertaining. He is one of the best actors in the business.

Very Entertaning Flick.

Posted : 16 years ago on 4 May 2008 06:46 (A review of Iron Man)

"Iron Man" is a highly entertaning action/adventure/comedy film. The main reason for it's comedy is Robert Downey Jr. He is hilarious in this film, and is one of the best actors in the business today. The plot is very good. It had the right amount of action, character development, and comedy.

"Iron Man" isn't a must see film per say, but it does deliver some entertainment.

"The perfect shooter"

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 22 March 2008 09:09 (A review of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2)

Is there a better game on x-box 360? No no, and no! Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is an amazing game. The gameplay is a 10/10. it is a little more challenging then the first one, but that is o.k. The graphics are a 10/10, they are ten times better then the first one. This is such an entertaining and fun video game.

There are a lot of new features as well including a sprint button, so you can go much faster. There is an in game ranking system, so whenever you kill an enemy, you get ten experience points. There are certain levels that you can acquire, like close quarters combat, marksman, explosives, and a few more. you also unlock new weapons as you progress through the game. Another awesome feature about this game, is you can rank up, on any game mode, whether it's online play, terrorist hunts, single player, or co-op play, you can still gain experience points to rank up. It is great.

If you are going to buy another first person shooter or if it's your first, make it this one. You will not be disappointed. This is the best video game on the X-Box 360.

UbiSoft just launched a massive update adding 80 more A.C.E.S Levels and allowing you to "Pull A Cod 4" in other words allowing you to progress through elite several times. I am highly enjoying this update.
