Super Size Me.

Posted : 15 years, 8 months ago on 30 August 2008 06:16 (A review of Super Size Me)

Disgusting? maybe, but "Super Size Me" really taught me a lot. I used to think Mcdonalds was alright for your system, and that you could easily consume it every day of your natural born life. Well, I was proven majorly wrong. What this film shows is graphic yet 100% factual.

A guy named Morgan Spurlock (30 days) conducts a month long experiment by eating Mcdonalds every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He must have every item on the menu at least once before the time period is up. At first it looks delicious to eat that much, but after awhile it gets intense and gruesome to view. You see him gain about twenty pounds, and get very ill. The doctor tells him if he doesn't stop consuming this much fast food, he could die. I think by that time he only had a couple of days left to eat.

He is fine healthy awhile after the thirty days is up, but he knows better than to do it again. My final question to him his, why do it? to prove something? I really don't know.

A Great Thriller From Start To Finish.

Posted : 15 years, 8 months ago on 27 August 2008 04:08 (A review of Dรฉjร  Vu)

With all of the excellent films that Denzel Washington has starred in over the past ten years or so, including American Gangster, Training Day, Man On Fire, Inside Man, etc., this picture definitely proves it has what it takes to meet those expectations. With over the top action, a great story, a great cast, and pretty neat looking high tech gadgets to go back in time, this is by far one of the best films of 2006.

The story is about a man named Keith Frazier (Washington) who works for the ATF, which the meaning of is away from me at the moment. He realizes he can go back into time in order to save a woman from being murdered. The way she is killed before going back in time I believe is a boat explosion, though it has been quite awhile since I viewed this film. Anyway, he goes back into time and begins unraveling all sorts of clues in order to figure out how to save her, while in the process falling in love with her. That is the plot in a nutshell.

In my opinion, the two falling in love was a great addition to the already excellent story. It made the film that much more enjoyable and edge of your seat exciting. I can honestly not think of any flaws in this film.

Bottomline, see this film if you haven't. You will be very happy that you did.

A Great Thrill Ride.

Posted : 15 years, 8 months ago on 24 August 2008 10:22 (A review of Death Race)

The Year is 2012.

"Death Race" is a very good film. I was actually surprised how good it actually was. There was tons of action, including great fight scenes from Jason Statham, and some great car racing. The cars in this film were different looking then most, but they looked quite bad-ass. They had high tech weapons attached to them. The material in the film was excellent. If you are into basically mindless action films with a pretty good story, a little bit like Doomsday, then watch this film.

In the beginning of the film, I was wondering if it was going to get any better, because it seemed dull. The story was corny and honestly weird. The way Jensen (Statham) got put into prison seemed unrealistic and unbelievable at first, then the film started making a lot more sense.

I would say this is one of the most entertaining films of 2008.

Funny, Corny.

Posted : 15 years, 9 months ago on 22 August 2008 03:06 (A review of Semi-Pro)

"Semi-Pro" is nothing like Will Ferrell's other films. It is not nearly as good as "Elf", or "Stranger Than Fiction". The reason I say that is because it was very corny and unfunny at many moments. Will Ferrel's performance was not nearly as good as it could have been. It felt like the director tried a bit to hard to be funny. Other than that, the film was very good.

The story revolves around a semi-pro basketball team. They are one of the worst in the league but are still trying to get into the NBA. The team is ran by the main player "Jackie Moon" (Will Ferrell). His motives are not what you would say top notch, so They hire a new guy and try several other things to become NBA Material. It eventually works after going through hilarious processes.

The film's plot is a very basic concept with some flaws here and there. I would say it is worth watching for the most part.

Fun With Friends.

Posted : 15 years, 9 months ago on 20 August 2008 08:59 (A review of Fuzion Frenzy)

"Fuzion Frenzy" is a great game if you have a lot of friends over, or even family for that matter. It is a great party game featuring I think thirty or forty mini games to enjoy. It is in a way similar to Mario Party, but in my opinion a little better.

I only played the demo, and that disappoints me, because having the full Game would be a joy. This is one of those games that can go on forever without having even a pinch of boredom.

For those of you who haven't played this game, please do. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Wanted Much More.

Posted : 15 years, 9 months ago on 17 August 2008 11:15 (A review of Mr. Woodcock)

This film was good for the most part. It had several pretty funny scenes and the cast was great as well. I highly enjoy Billy Bob Thornton and Sean William Scott. In my opinion, it was just a bit rushed with a lot of rather ridiculous dialogue including some out of place lines. Not to mention, it was a little cheesy.

I really do not have much more to say about this film, so I will just say it is mostly worth seeing.

One Of The Funniest Films Of The Year.

Posted : 15 years, 9 months ago on 27 July 2008 09:09 (A review of Step Brothers)

"Step Brothers" is easily a contender for comedy of the year. It was hysterical.

The film revolves around two step brothers who basically hate each others guts. They are played by two of the funniest actors in Hollywood. Will Ferrell, and John C. Reilly. That was a big bonus for me considering all of Ferrell's films are hilarious. I haven't seen many of Reilly's, but he put on a show in this film. They are forty year old men still living with their parents, which in my opinion, couldn't be a better plot for these two. Will Ferrell had that spark to him, as he does in all of his other great films. Watch for a little resemblance to his Elf character "Buddy". You will laugh hysterically during this film, I guarantee it. perfect actors, along with a spectacular, but very basic plot, make this a must see film.

At first I was rather skeptical due to a few unnecessary jokes and scenes that were added in towards the beginning of the film, but that quickly changed when it lit up with golden comedy. I have not laughed that much about a film in who knows how long. There are so many unforgettable scenes in this film, it is just great. Will Ferrell has some of his best quotes.

I was pleasantly surprised by The supporting cast. They were all excellent, including Mary Steenburgen, Richard Jenkins, and a special guest Seth Rogen. This film had all the ingredients of a great film, and it is. Go see this film!

Another Great Max Payne Installment.

Posted : 15 years, 9 months ago on 25 July 2008 07:49 (A review of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne)

The next installment of Max Payne has him pitted against basically the world as he hunts down mobs, and groups and such, while at the same time falling in love with a murder suspect named Mona. In my opinion, the story could have been a little more developed with a bit more things happening, because the missions seem dull to an extent, yet I still love playing them.

The gameplay is exactly the same with the exception of bullet time. Bullet time is Max in slow motion doing twists and turns taking his enemies down. I must admit, it does look rather cool. Though the game would definitely have been better without it, because of originality.

The graphics in Max Payne 2 were much better than the original, but that wasn't necessarily for the best. I was sort of disappointed with the way they changed the characters looks around a lot, mainly Max's facial features and actions. I much more preferred his other character look. The other characters looked nothing like the first one either. For example Jim Bravura, and Alfred Wooden. Other than that, the characters are great.

I though the sound effects were way better than the original. The enemies are much more intelligent and you don't usually seeing them acting stupid. There dialogue is much more advanced as well. You will now hear them saying new things. Everything in that realm was great, until I realized that Max's voice was basically completely changed to where he doesn't sound like himself. It would have been better of they would have kept his other voice. I am not hating on Max Payne 2. I am just stating some flaws that I would have hoped were non existent. Other than those minor flaws, this is one great game, and definitely worth buying.

Addicting And Amazingly Fun.

Posted : 15 years, 10 months ago on 24 July 2008 11:13 (A review of Grand Theft Auto IV)

GTA IV is one of the best video games I have ever played. It is extremely addicting. I have only played a few games more fun then this. Nor have I played many more realistic games. Almost everything you can do in real life, can be done in this game, and it looks real. There are so many new features, it is amazing. Cheers to Rockstar for making another amazing Grand Theft Auto in the series. This is the best yet.

A Little Frightening, But That's It.

Posted : 15 years, 10 months ago on 16 July 2008 10:36 (A review of Alien)

"Alien" is a rather frightening film. It has it's own kind of fear to it. A fear that can only be found while watching this specific film. The reason I find it scary, is because you don't actually see the alien until almost the end of the film. The build up of how scary you think the alien will be, is almost as frightening as seeing it. I was really frightened when I first saw the full grown version pop up in one of the scenes. H.R. Giger, the designer of the alien, really made it look real, and truly scary. The disappointing part is, that's really all I liked about this flick.

If you want to know the honest truth, I was expecting it to be much better for some reason. It had its moments, but I was expecting so much more. I wasn't entertained the whole way through, and thought they could have a little more going on. I might be one of only a few people saying this, but Alien just isn't my cup of tea.
